CROSS-BORDER TRAVEL

GET TO YOUR DESTINATION WITH ONE TICKET!

Cross-border travel to the region of Berchtesgaden is simple. There is one Salzburg Verkehr ticket that you can use to get there. All the benefits are offered throughout the county of Salzburg, along with the region of Berchtesgaden and the adjacent states of Upper Austria and Styria.

Important information on cross-border travel:

  • Because of differing funding models for public transport in Austria and Germany, there are different fares for weekly, monthly and annual passes for cross-border travel and for those passes for domestic travel in Austria.
  • Single ride tickets and day tickets do not differ in price from their domestic counterparts.
  • For Germans with disabilities free transit up to the last stop before the Austrian border is possible if an appropriate identification (with an official stamp) can be shown. Once across the border, these riders are entitled to at least a 70 % reduced fare in the Salzburg Verkehr network, which will be determined based on the level of disability. If German rail is used the according documents entitle the person for a free ride to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (Salzburg main railway station).
  • It is always necessary to carry valid travel documents on cross-border trips.
