SMALL CHILDREN up to the age of 5 (until the day preceding their 6th birthday) accompanied by a paying passenger travel free-of-charge. In case of doubt, their birthday or age must be evidenced.
CHILDREN from 6 to 14 (until the day preceding their 15th birthday) pay the minimum price. They are entitled to these prices based on a document evidencing their date of birth.
YOUTH aged 15 to 18 (until the day preceding their 19th birthday) may obtain tickets for special youth prices. Advance sale tickets purchased for a “YOUTH TICKET price” may be used without the need for additional payment or exchange.
FAMILIES with a Salzburg family pass. All children up to the age of 14 registered or specified in the pass may travel with their family free-of-charge. Every adult passenger whose name is on the family pass, or family ticket, pays the minimum price. Officially issued family passes and family tickets issued by other Austrian federal states are also recognized. MyRegio yearly ticket holders may bring their CHILDREN aged 6-14 free-of-charge if the children are registered in their Salzburg family pass. Otherwise, the children travel for the minimum price.
SENIORS from the age of 64 (and, from January 1,2022, from 65 years of age) with a valid (temporary) ÖBB Senior ADVANTAGE CARD or a valid (temporary) ÖBB Senior AUSTRIA CARD are entitled to senior prices when purchasing single-ride, hourly, daily and 24-hour tickets. The reduction amounts to some 20% of the full price. All other tickets are available for the standard price. Advance sale tickets sold for a “reduced price” may be used without the need for additional payment or exchange.
The SENIOR NETWORK TICKET “myRegio Edelweiß-Ticket” is a network-wide ticket (city of Salzburg & state of Salzburg) for seniors. It may be purchased for 299.00 euros per year, or 25.00 euros per month. The minimum period for which they are bound by the relevant contract is one year! With this card and within the territory it covers, dogs and one bike may be transported free-of-charge.
PERSONS DISABLED BY WAR with an ID of a war-disabled travel for the minimum price. A person and/or an assistance dog accompanying them travel free-of-charge.
BLIND PERSONS with a valid disability ID card issued by the Federal Social Office or a membership ID of the Association for the Blind (Blindenverband) pay the minimum price. A person and/or an assistance dog accompanying them travel free-of-charge.
- A person and/or an assistance dog travel free-of-charge as long as the disabled person is in a wheelchair or his/her disability ID card contains a note “The holder of this card needs another person to accompany them”.
- Citizens of other states able to produce an ID comparable to a disability ID card which shows their full name, place of residence, date of birth as well as a reduction in earning capacity of at least 70% are also entitled to the minimum price.
- Where a disability ID card pursuant to §40 of the Federal Act on Disabled Persons contains a note “The holder of this card is entitled to a reduction of the price of travel under the Federal Act on Disabled Persons, its holder is entitled to travel for the minimum price. A minimum degree of disability need not be evidenced in this case.
- Where a disability ID card contains information on multiple degrees of disability, the highest degree of disability shall be considered decisive for the purposes of a possible price reduction.
CHILDREN’s AND YOUTH GROUPS
PRE-SCHOOL GROUPS Pre-school children travelling together accompanied by another person travel free-of-charge even if they are older than 5. The rule for the number of persons who may accompany them free-of-charge is as follows: up to 10 pre-school children: 2 accompanying persons, 11-20 pre-school children: 4 accompanying persons, 21-30 pre-school children: 6 accompanying persons etc. However, they have to be able to produce a confirmation issued by the management of the pre-school with a signature and stamp, stating the date of travel, the number of children, as well as that of the accompanying persons, and the route. This right only applies to pre-schools from the Federal State of Salzburg.
GROUPS OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH travel for the minimum price if there are at least ten accompanied children or youth who travel together on the same route. For every ten children or youth, two accompanying persons can travel free-of-charge. On regional bus lines, the full price of the ticket must be paid only by the accompanying persons.
MyRegio yearly ticket and senior network ticket “myRegio Edelweiß-Ticket” holders may take a dog with them free-of-charge. Otherwise, the dogs travel for the minimum price. Please note that dogs only be carried with a muzzle and on a leash.
MyRegio yearly ticket and senior network ticket “myRegio Edelweiß-Ticket” holders may take a bicycle with them free-of-charge (on ÖBB local trains in the province of salzburg, on trolleybusses and regional buses) .
