CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE
Small children up to age 5 inclusive (up to the day before their 6th birthday) are carried free of charge when accompanied by a paying passenger. In case of doubt, proof of the child’s date of birth or age must be provided.
Children from age 6 to 14 inclusive (up to the day before their 15th birthday) pay the minimum price. A document showing the respective child’s date of birth serves as proof of entitlement.
Young people from age 15 to 18 inclusive (up to the day before their 19th birthday) benefit from the youth price for journeys in the network area (carry proof of age).
Groups of children and young people
Kindergarten groups who are accompanied can travel free of charge on the same route, even if they are over five years old. Provision concerning the number of accompanying people to provide entitlement to free travel: up to 10 kindergarten children: 2 accompanying people; 11-20 kindergarten children: 4 accompanying people; 21-30 kindergarten children: 6 accompanying people etc. This is conditional upon confirmation from the kindergarten management dated on the day of travel, with signature and stamp, showing the number of children and accompany people as well as the route. This entitlement applies only for kindergartens in the federal state of Salzburg. (Please book in advance with the transport company.)
Groups of children and young people can travel for the minimum price, if at least ten accompanied children or young people travel together on the same route. For every ten accompanied children or young people, two accompanying people are carried free of charge. When purchasing a ticket on regional buses, the full fare must be paid only by one accompanying person. (Please book in advance with the transport company.)
FAMILIES
Families with a Salzburg Family Pass:
All children up to the age of 14 inclusive (= up to 1 day before their 15th birthday) who are listed on the Family Pass are carried free of charge. Each parent or each adult listed on the Family Pass (e.g. parent, grandparent, foster parent etc.) pays the minimum fare. Official family passes or family tickets from other Austrian federal states are accepted. In conjunction with a Austria or Salzburg CLASSIC (including in the CLASSIC PLUS, U26, SPEZIAL, SENIOR | EDELWEISS and SEMESTER variants), children up to the age of 14 inclusive are carried completely free of charge.
Families with a Freizeit-Ticket Salzburg:
Explore Salzburg as a couple or as a family for a whole day – for only 19 euros. From July 1, 2023, the Salzburger Verkehrsverbund will be offering the new Freizeit-Ticket Salzburg: Two people and up to four children can use public transport throughout Salzburg for a day. Valid for one day, two people and up to four children under the age of 15.
Seniors
Seniors from the age of 65 with a valid (temporary) ÖBB-VORTEILSCARD Senior (Austrian federal railways advantage card for seniors) benefit from the senior price on single tickets, one-hour tickets, day tickets and 24-hour tickets. The reduction is equivalent to a discount of around 20% compared with the full price. All other tickets are available for the standard fare. Existing advance tickets at the “concession price” can still be used without additional charge or replacement.
The SENIORS’ NETWORK TICKET “KlimaTicket Salzburg SENIOR | EDELWEISS” is a network ticket (city of Salzburg & state of Salzburg) for seniors, which costs € 274.00 per year. The minimum commitment is one year. Children listed on the Family Pass, one dog and one bicycle can be carried free of charge in the area where the ticket is valid.
PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
- People who can prove a disability level or reduced earning capacity of at least 70% benefit from the minimum price.
- A companion will be carried free of charge, as long as the disabled person is in a wheelchair or his/her disability pass shows the endorsement “The holder of this pass requires an assisting companion.”
- Citizens of other states are likewise entitled to the minimum price, if they present a pass that is equivalent to the disability pass, showing their fore- and surname, domicile, date of birth and reduced earning capacity of at least 70%.
- If, in accordance with §40 of the federal disability act, the disability pass includes the endorsement “the holder of this pass may benefit from fare reduction in accordance with the federal disability act”, the holder of the disability pass benefits from the minimum price. A minimum disability level is not required in this case.
- If the disability pass includes multiple disability levels, the highest disability level is binding for any concession.
People who have been severely injured by war who have a pass for people who have been severely injured by war pay the minimum price. A companion and/or assistance dog will be carried free of charge.
Blind people with a valid disability pass from the federal social welfare office or a membership card of the association for the blind pay the minimum price. A companion and/or assistance dog will be carried free of charge.
The KlimaTicket Salzburg SPEZIAL is an annual network ticket (city & state of Salzburg) for € 274.00 for people with disabilities or people who have been severely injured by war. Children listed on the Family Pass, one dog and one bicycle can be carried free of charge in the area where the ticket is valid.
DOGS
Holders of a KlimaTicket Österreich or KlimaTicket Salzburg CLASSIC (including in the CLASSIC PLUS, U26, SPEZIAL, SENIOR | EDELWEISS and SEMESTER variants) and Freizeit-Ticket Salzburg may take one dog (Freizeit-Ticket Salzburg up to four dogs) free of charge in the area where their ticket is valid. Otherwise, dogs will be carried for the respective minimum fare. Please note that dogs may be taken or carried on board only with a bite-proof muzzle and on a short lead.
Marked assistance dogs, therapy dogs and police dogs are transported free of charge and without a muzzle requirement.
